Welcome to Fable Charity's Website

Fable Charity Is Now Closed.

Due to circumstances beyond Fables control it has been agreed after several meetings of the trustees that the charity known as F.a.b.l.e (For A Better Life with Epilepsy) has now closed down.

This has been a very difficult decision to make, but the combination of losing the founder to cancer. Battling to survive the Covid-19 pandemic. Loosing the operations manager all in the space of four years has made the charity untenable, so the difficult decision to wind down the charity has been made..

The effect of the Covid19 pandemic didn’t help it affected the charity in many ways as it did with many other charitable organisations and made things difficult to get started again with the lockdowns and social distancing.

The trustees held meetings in December 2021 and again in January 2022. They took into consideration the fact that both retail premises leases were due for renewal as was the office building.

To tie the charity into contracts for a minimum term of three more years in the current climate due to the loss of Sandra Howard, Sarah Osborne Green and the uncertainty of the pandemic and another possible lockdown the difficult decision to close the retail outlets and then wind down the charity by the end of the tax year in March 2022 was made.

The trustees, patients and their families would like to thank the many trusts, foundations and grant making organisations for their help over the years. Your donations and grants have helped so many patients and families.

We thank also all the people that attended the many fundraising functions over the years.

We also owe a great big thank you to all the public that donated, bought and patronised our many retail premises over the years, your support and donations have been invaluable and have helped many hundreds of patients and family units over the 23 years since the charity was founded.

Fable had an end of shops sale in January 2022 and any excess goods/shop fittings etc that wasnt sold was donated to various charities along with any stock that was left being distributed/donated to other charities such as St Luke’s. Barnardo’s. Help the Aged. The Heart Foundation. Oxfam. Age Concern. Etc.

All shop and office supplies that were of usable condition were donated to The Samaritans.

All coloured paper, pens and pencils etc. were donated to The Sacred Heart Catholic School Art Department.

Any restricted grants or donations have been returned to the relevant trusts or foundations
The Pierrepont Trust. Alison Hillman Charitable Trust. The Liz & Terry Bramhall Foundation. David Family Foundation. St Mary's Lane Trust.

Any money left in the bank after all invoices, bills and any outstanding invoices are paid will be distributed/donated to several small charities. As a small charity Fable understands how much a donation can help a small charity.
