Dame Barbara Windsor

F.A.B.L.E. were absolutely delighted that the fabulous Barbara Windsor agreed to become a patron, after meeting Sandra Howard at the Pride of Britain Awards in 1999.

In the 2016 New Year’s Honours List Barbara Windsor was made a Dame, best known for playing pub landlady Peggy Mitchell and for her roles in the Carry On films the honour is for services to charity and entertainment.

Barbara Windsor has said she is “ so very honoured, proud and extremely humbled to be awarded a dame hood in the New Year’s Honours.”

Barbara is a very popular British star of countless films, including the "Carry On" series and she is now equally well known as Peggy Mitchell in BBC 1's Eastender’s.

In the New Year's Honour's list of 1999 Barbara was awarded the MBE.

In support of Fable Barbara attended the 10th Anniversary Gala Ball in May 2005, met our Cyclist from the Stocksbridge Cycling club when they reached London after their 5 day cycle from Newcastle in 2012 and has attended events to collect fundraising cheques on our behalf.

Barbara is also supporting the Stand Up 4 Epilepsy Campaign along with our other patrons. We are very grateful for her continued support.

We were sad to be informed that
Dame Barbara Windsor has been moved to a care home in London due to her advancing dementia.
We wish her all the best.
