The St. Elizabeth's Centre at Much Hadham, near to Bishop's Stortford in East Hertfordshire is one of only two national epilepsy centres offering services to all age groups.
For 100 years the Centre has been providing education, care and medical support to people with epilepsy and associated disabilities.
Founded and maintained by an order of Catholic Sisters, The Daughters of the Cross of Liege, the St. Elizabeth's Centre is open to all on the basis of need regardless of religious cultural or ethnic backgrounds.
Its mission statement reflects the Christian principles which underpin its work.
"By the unquestioning expression of God's love we will work together to bring about the personal development of each individual".
The Much Hadham site hosts a residential special school, a "village" of modern bungalows for adult residents and a day college offering independence training programmes to 19-25 year olds. Satellite communities are being developed in local urban centres.
